Kirsty Mitchell: photography in wonderland

Last week, I found the beautiful work of Kirsty Mitchell and I couldn't keep this to myself. This girl is creating the whole thing: costumes, props, sets and accessories. Her pictures are truly wonderful and colorful. I'll let you judge by yourself and discover more from her on her website.

Day-to-day

Yesterday, I have added an app to my Iphone which gives me 1 thing to do each day. The thing I have to do today is to drink a large glass of water before each meal. I already had my breakfast when it popped up this morning so I will skip this one and do it for the other 2.

Also, I have added a sponsor section on my site but I know I'm still a tiny tiny tiny blog so I'm only offering ad swap for the moment. But please, pay my sponsors a little visit and feel free (of course!) to add my button to your site if you want to help me grow.

I finally figured out how to put a signature on my blog posts without having to add it each time too. So now you will be granted with it all the time. Took me a while you might say? Why yes, I'm fairly new to all this HTML stuff so I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things.

We didn't get the chance to finish the garden yet since IT WONT STOP RAINING! So whenever it stops for a couple of hours, I go for a horse ride or else he will be a mess for the rest of the summer. Since he's living outside 24/7, I can't really ride him when it rains. It's not comfortable neither for him or me when he's all wet. I'm also really tired of the rain mainly because since we have a small river now, we have to bath the dogs 2 to 3 times a day if we don't want them to put dirt all over the place. And they smell like swamp, which is not my favorite perfume you know...

I'm leaving tomorrow for Montebello for the Quebec Archivists Association Congress. I'll be back home on friday. I was impatient to go but yesterday I saw the reviews of the hotel I will stay to.....not good. I really hope that it will be better than what it says.

Now some more Kevin Russ love because he's awesome! You can also check his Instagram.

Have a nice day folks! What are your plans for the rest of the week?

Abandoned places #1

One thing I really, really like is abandoned places. I've been attracted by them very young and the passion just never left me. At first, as a kid, it was the fear that was attractive to me. But then I fell in love with their mystery, their past and untold stories. I love to see how nature is taking his place back at them, I love to imagine why it was abandoned and pretty often I will do some research to try to know a little bit more about it. Sometimes, the real story is not as cool as you have imagined. But some other times, it's worst. For many places, mostly private houses, we'll never know what happened. Some places are not really interesting, but some others are truly fascinating. A few years ago, I was looking at abandoned hospitals, mostly. There's many in the USA and they're large spaces, sometimes they even look like small villages. But now I'm really into private houses. They have a story on their own. Some people leave their house and left all their belongings behind. Why? What can happened to someone to make him go away and leave all these things? Until you learn the real story, when you do, your imagination can do his job and you can compose the most tragical stories you want!

So you will ear about those places a lot from me. I wont blog about it every week, don't worry, but I will post pictures and stories from time to time. Also, you will see pictures of many kinds of abandonment, not only places but things too. To my despair, many explorers (that's how we call ourself) are using HDR and I HATE it. But the places are still great so I'm posting them anyway...

Here are some that I found online today. These have no specific stories attached.

Enough for today! Do you like abandoned places too?

Nadeshicon convention and some finds

We had a wonderful fashion show this weekend! Our makeups, hair and clothes were amazing, everybody was ready and our timing was just perfect. We usually get the pictures pretty fast but for some reasons, we still don't have them yet this time. We did the show at Nadeshicon. I saw a couple of nice cosplay but since I was there only on sunday, I missed the best of them. My friend won a prize for her cosplay of Gaara from Naruto (the blue costume won).

And last year, she has been noticed a lot with this Gaara.

And here's a little preview of me...

I saw some really nice stuff at the convention, mostly jewelry. These two were my favorites.

The temperature has gotten better since friday so we worked outside most of saturday. There's still a lot of things to be done as we wait for the summer to come but I'm happy with what we did this weekend. And since the sun was still there today, i did a little trail with my fatty-fat-fat horse but it didn't go very well. And when i got home, Rufio had escaped his cage and was chewing my favorite boots, grrrrrrrr! I can't wait for the vet to tell us that we can free him!

I found about Vivian Maier yesterday and I'm absolutely jealous of the guy who first bought this bunch of pictures! Can you imagine that? Buying over 100 000 undeveloped photographs at an auction to discover such an amazing work? I dont care about the money it's worth now, I'm thrilled about the discovery that the guy made one picture after another. Here are some example of her work.

aaaaaand bathroom mirror shot in 1956, take this facebookers! Hahahaha!
